Grey-headed Flying Foxes like to live in large colonies in trees, often near water sources. They are found throughout eastern Australia, from Queensland to Victoria. They prefer to roost in forests, woodlands, and urban areas, especially where there are reliable food sources.

Grey-Headed Flying Foxes are currently being forced out of their natural habitats into urban areas due to habitat loss and availability of food sources.

This movement to urban areas not only affect the lives of the Flying Foxes, but create chaos and inconvenience for the general public in the area. The noise, and smell created by the Flying Foxes make them seem as pests to people. However, they really are just misunderstood creatures driven by negative human impacts to the brink of extinction. With their natural habitats under severe threat from land clearing, climate change and human interference, Flying Foxes have no choice but to move into urban areas such as cities and bushy suburbs.
